Arnold-Chiari malformation (ACM) is a congenital disorder of the brain and spine in which parts of the cerebellum are pushed through an opening in the bottom of the skull, into the spinal canal. This malformation can lead to a wide range of physical and cognitive difficulties for patients, including motor deficits, visual disturbances, headaches, balance issues, coordination difficulties, intellectual impairments, chronic pain, swallowing difficulties and breathing problems. Patients often experience limited physical mobility due to these symptoms and require specialised care.
At Aeon Nursing we specialize in providing complex care services for patients with Arnold-Chiari malformation. Our approach is centred around developing an individualized treatment plan that best meets each patient’s needs while also taking into account any underlying medical conditions they may have. We strive to provide comprehensive care that addresses both the physical and emotional concerns associated with ACM.
Our team consists of highly trained nurses and therapists who are experienced in treating this condition. We understand that living with ACM can be challenging and our goal is to ensure each patient feels supported throughout their journey towards optimal health. Our nurses will assess each patient’s specific needs and develop a customized treatment program that includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or other interventions as needed. They also provide counselling on nutrition and lifestyle changes that can help reduce symptoms such as pain or headaches as well as educational resources to help patients better understand their diagnosis.
