What is Learning Disability?
Learning disability is a neurological disorder that affects the ability of individuals to process information and impacts how they perceive, think, reason, remember, problem-solve, communicate and interact with the world around them. It can cause difficulties in learning new skills and completing tasks that require more than one step. Individuals with learning disabilities may experience difficulty in reading, writing, memory, mathematics, organization and executive functioning.
Types of Difficulties Faced by Patients:
Patients with learning disabilities may have difficulty understanding complex concepts or abstract ideas; they may struggle to accurately decode language through reading or hearing it; they may be unable to remember what they read or heard; they may have difficulty understanding spoken language; they may be unable to spell words correctly; they may have difficulty organizing their thoughts into cohesive written sentences; and they may struggle with math calculations. In addition to these types of difficulties, many individuals with learning disabilities also face social challenges such as interacting appropriately in social situations or expressing themselves effectively which can lead to further frustration because of their limitations.
